This is an exceptionally rare wooden portable gramophone manufactured around 1918–1928, most likely in one of the high-quality but small European workshops operating in Germany or Austria.
It represents the luxurious category known as “Portable Salon Gramophones” — combining the convenience of a travel phonograph with the elegant craftsmanship of the living-room instruments of the interwar period.

The cabinet is built from solid wood and finished with a beautiful geometric veneer pattern, typical for high-end acoustic devices of the 1920s. Its most distinctive feature is the large decorative mirror mounted on the inside of the lid — an element found only in top-tier luxury portable models of that era.

Inside the cabinet lies a classic spring-driven motor, a steel S-bend tonearm, an original mica-diaphragm soundbox, and a felt-covered turntable. The entire internal layout — including the tonearm guides and compartments — shows craftsmanship that predates mass production.
